One-day Classic Car Tour “Wachau”

Wachau, historical countryside and enjoyment at the World Heritage Site

Back: Burgenland      Next: Salzkammer District

The classic car tour takes us through the mystic Vienna Forest en route to the Wachau World Heritage Site in the town of Dürnstein that dates back to the Middle Ages. It was here in Kuenringer Castle that King Richard the Lionheart was held prisoner.

Next our classic car tour takes us to Weissenkirchen to the 700-year old vineyard and gourmet restaurant Prandtauerhof, which in 1696 was revamped by Joseph Prandtauer, the designer of Melk Abbey, to a Baroque jewel.

Via small mountain roads this stretch of the tour takes a short trip to historical Stein an der Donau and ends above the Dunkelstein Forest at the famous Göttweig Abbey (1083) where you can enjoy a cup of coffee or take a tour.

The last leg of the tour takes us past the town of Herzogenburg via a very windy part of the Vienna Forest.
