Mercedes-Benz 220 SEb Convertible
The 220b, 220Sb and 220SEb models were ready for production in early 1959. The project leaders made a detailed
round trip, a kind of personal race, from Stuttgart to Naples and back, to convince themselves that the vehicle
was ready for series production. The head developer, wellknown as a racing driver, Rudolf Uhlenhaut, told the press
that this vehicle was faster round the bends than the 190SL. The chassis of this convertible was a technical revolution,
and even today you can still glide round the bends with wonderful ease.
